Jonathan Skow and his wife, Trina Turk, have developed a powerhouse brand that screams California style with TRINA TURK specializing in women’s clothing, accessories and home décor, and MR TURK specializing in clothes for today’s modern man. Jonathan is a noted stylist and photographer whose work has included appearances in Esquire, Vanity Fair, and Harper’s Bazaar; national campaigns for Target, Sony and Verizon; and a number of celebrity clients.

It was only natural that Skow made the progression to the helm of the men’s answer to the TRINA TURK line – delivering comfortable, fashionable and stylish collections each season that prove that it’s possible for men to wear modern fashions that combine vibrant colors and designs. Being a fan of the overall style of MR TURK each season, I was very pleased to get a first-hand look at this exciting new Spring collection with Jonathan Skow, and have this priceless insight from the brilliant mind behind this brand.
Looking at the spring collection, what was the inspiration behind this season’s signature Mr Turk inventive use of colors and designs?
For our Spring 2015 collection, a trip to the downtown Los Angeles Flower Mart inspired a profusion of print and color! Vibrant buds and tropical takes on foliage bloom with graphic stripes and geometric jacquards, all done in our signature California dapper style.
You always bring fun designs together with modern style – how do you keep it fresh each season?
Mr Turk is designed for men who want to make a statement with their wardrobe. Simple silhouettes in unique patterns, textures and colors are the hallmark of the brand. I draw inspiration from California’s cocktail culture and indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Living in California provides endless inspiration for me, and my designs.
We’ve come accustomed to seeing Mr Turk designs on a number of television broadcasts and red carpets – anyone we should be watching this season for the latest Mr Turk styles?
Celebrities and musicians including Ryan Lewis of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Capital Cities, The Replacements, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters, Simon Doonan, Jonathan Adler, Ross Mathews and Dan Savage have worn Mr Turk. We’re working on some exciting opportunities for 2015 so stay tuned!
